Delicate Arch

Delicate Arch is one of Utah's most famous icons; you can see images of it everywhere. There are two options for visiting this amazing monument. Delicate Arch Viewpoint is the easier one; a short trail leads to a viewpoint where you can view the arch from the distance. In addition to this very short trail, another trail climbs about half a mile towards Delicate Arch and ends at the rim of a steep canyon that separates the viewpoint from the arch.

The more popular but much longer trail (3 miles round trip) starts at the Wolfe Ranch parking area. If you take this trail, be prepared for open slickrock with some exposure to heights and no shade. The first half-mile is a well-defined trail, follow the rock cairns upon reaching the slickrock. The trail climbs gradually and levels out toward the top of this rock face. Just before you get to Delicate Arch, the trail traverses a rock ledge for about 200 yards.

Directions

After having visited The Windows, go back to the main road and turn right. Follow the main road for about 2.5 miles until you reach another intersection with the road to Wolfe Ranch (in total, 11.5 miles from the visitor center). Take a right - you will reach Wolfe Ranch after 1.2 miles (main trail to Delicate Arch) or go to the end of the road if you want to visit Delicate Arch Viewpoint.
